When Disha returned to India after graduating from Georgia Tech, she felt adrift, unsure of what came next. Her mother, Sujata, a lifelong admirer of handloom textiles, saw an opportunity in their shared uncertainty. Together, they began Arts of Weaving—not as a business, but as a journey to rediscover their roots. Disha brought her tech skills to the table, building the website and capturing the sarees through her lens. Sujata, with her innate love for textiles and deep connections to weavers, curated products that told stories of Odisha's rich heritage.

As they traveled across the state, meeting weavers in their humble homes and workshops, they were struck by the dedication and skill behind every piece. They listened to stories of generations-old techniques, of looms that had been family heirlooms, and of artisans who poured their hearts into their craft. They discovered that every thread carried a story—of resilience, of love, of identity. What started as a small project soon became a mission—to preserve this fading art, to give it a modern voice, and to share it with the world.
